Prague
Photography Workshops
The 1,000 year-old capital of the Czech Republic is renowned as the
preeminent cultural and artistic destination of Central Europe. Its
unparalleled artistic heritage has produced many of the world’s
leading photographic artists. Intermediate-to-advanced photographers
will find inspiration in the beauty and richness of the surroundings
by visiting some of the historic sites, such as the Prague Castle, Wallenstein
Palace, St.Vitus Cathedral, and the famous Charles Bridge.
This week-long workshop enables students to choose a concentration,
or combine studies in any of the following areas:
-
Creative Travel Photography is a location class
with emphasis on representative places, and people within the context
of these dynamic environments. Concept, preparation, and responsiveness
to the ever-changing scenes allow the student to realize a more complete
story of their travel experiences.
-
Architectural Photography classes will allow the
student to master the intricacies of perspective control, color balance,
innovative composition, and precision exposure techniques. Capture
Prague’s architectural riches from St. George’s Basilica
(built 920 A.D.) to Frank Gehry’s acclaimed “Fred and
Ginger” house (built 1996) in this unique location class.
-
Studio Still Life Photography offers individual
instruction in advanced lighting techniques and photo styling methods,
enabling students to produce exceptional fine-art, or commercial still-life
images.
-
Fine-art Figure Photography classes team the
student with our accomplished Czech model for the collaborative interaction
required for successful fine-art figurative images. Studio sessions
stress appropriate lighting techniques, and work toward a greater
compositional sophistication. Click

Studio classes will be held in our state-of-the-art facilities located
in the city center. Our two studios are outfitted with up to 6,000 watts
of digital studio flash, and a complete selection of accessories. There
are Mac workstations for image preview, and transfer of images to photo
CDs. Nearby professional retailers provide quick processing, film, memory
cards, and accessories.
Daily Itineraries
Students will alternate course instruction with days devoted to cultural
discovery events, which fully immerse the student in Prague’s wealth
of cultural offerings. These may include, but are not limited to:
- Castle tours
- Gallery openings
- Historic site visits
- Museum tours
- Open air concerts
- Shopping
- River boat trips
- Beer gardens
- Wine tasting
- Fine dining experiences
